Let Hereford Entertain You This December
This December, Hereford is bursting with festive cheer, seasonal entertainment and something for everyone to enjoy. From magical family activities to live performances, sport, cinema and late-night shopping, the city is ready to put on a show.
Whether you’re planning a cosy winter outing or a full festive day out, Hereford’s December line-up promises plenty of reasons to wrap up warm and head into the city.
Festive Fun for Families
Families can step straight into the magic of Christmas with two much-loved festive attractions in the city centre.
Santa’s Grotto will be open in High Town from 17–22 December, inviting children to visit Santa at his Christmas Village. Young visitors can meet Santa in his house and receive a present to open early.
No booking is required, with entry priced at £7 per child, payable at the event. Gifts are tailored for children aged 2–4 years and 5–10 years, making it a perfect festive treat for little ones.

Families can also take part in the popular Elf on a Shop Shelf Trail, which encourages children to explore Hereford city centre while searching for hidden elves in local businesses. Participants need to find the elves and match the festive saying beside each one to the correct number on their trail map.
Those who successfully complete the trail will be entered into a prize draw, with the chance to win a 50-inch TV, as well as two runner-up prizes of a £25 Hereford Gift Card. Completed entries must be submitted in person at the Tourist Information Centre by 3 January.

Seasonal Shows & City Traditions
The festive season wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the theatre. Mother Goose at The Courtyard brings a classic pantomime to Hereford, packed with laughs, music and festive cheer for all ages.
At Hereford Cathedral, Christmas Magic offers a beautiful seasonal experience in one of the city’s most iconic settings, adding to the sense of wonder and celebration throughout December.
