First launched in 2017, Ferrous is a ten-day festival celebrating the craft of blacksmithing.
Learn about the remarkable blacksmithing tradition through hands-on live forging experiences, workshops, exhibitions and more.

Ferrous returned in 2019 to celebrate the natural world through the craft of blacksmithing.
Visitors could have a go at forging their very own seed marker to take home, along with a packet of wildflower seeds to plant and help support the bees.
The ten-day event also included a wide range of exhibitions (including the 'Measured Making 150mm Challenge' and 'Celebrating the Natural World' projects), workshops, lectures and films.
Our inaugural festival saw the city centre come alive with to the sights and sounds of six hot metal forges.
Blacksmiths and members of the public gathered in High Town to contribute a forged Ginkgo leaf to be added to a seated garden arbour that is housed permanently at St Michael’s Hospice.
