The Glenn Miller & Big Band Spectacular

Music, Film & Theatre

The music that filled dancehalls during the Big Band era is brought to life in this concert by The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra UK (MSO UK), recreating the million sellers of the 40s and 50s.

Pieces from band leaders including Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington and Count Basie as well as songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are featured to take audiences down Memory Lane.

Glenn Miller was American trombonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader in the Swing era and was the best-selling recording artist during the early 1940s.

In just four years, Glenn Miller had 16 number-one records and 69 top-10 hits, with songs such as In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, A String of Pearls, Elmer's Tune and
Little Brown Jug.

Tragically Glenn Miller’s plane disappeared whilst flying over the English Channel in 1944 and his body was never recovered.

The Glenn Miller & Big Band Spectacular features musicians
whose credits range from 1920’s trad jazz, BBC Big Band, Jazz Funk and West End shows.

From playing under the wing of a Bomber at the American Air Museum to selling out their appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the MSO UK boasts an impressive history of
performances and promise swing fans a night to remember.

The Glenn Miller & Big Band Spectacular will be in The Courtyard’s Main House on Thursday 7 July at 7.30pm. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk
