Spring Garden Opening at Hereford Cathedral

History & Culture, Family Friendly

On Friday 25 March, Hereford Cathedral’s beautiful gardens will be open to the public to explore, offering an early opportunity, before the gardens officially open for summer tours and events, to see the hard work undertaken by the Cathedral gardeners.

Simply drop in at any time between 10 am and 3 pm to visit the Chapter House Garden, Cloister Garden and Canon's Garden. Guides will be available throughout the day for tours and assistance. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased in advance via the Cathedral website, by phone on 01432 374 210 or in the Cathedral Shop.

The Cathedral Garden Guides will be located at the entrance to the Cloisters and will be happy to take you around on a short tour. Our Gardeners and Guides are a dedicated team of volunteers who work hard to maintain the gardens, and to promote the history and tranquillity of the space.

Jess Stallwood, Events Officer: “The team at Hereford Cathedral is very pleased to host its first garden event of 2022, giving the public a chance to see the gardens just as they begin to bloom for Spring! Most of the Cathedral gardens are private, so an opportunity to see them is a must for both locals and visitors from further afield – they are some of the best days in our calendar.”

The main cathedral garden events season runs annually between May and September. This includes the popular Open Gardens events which are bookable in advance on various dates across the season, and walk-up garden tours which run on Wednesdays and Saturdays during these months. More details will be available on the website nearer the time.
