Fun for Families in Hereford

Looking for some fun family activities this summer? Hereford has you covered!

 Summers are made for adventure and Hereford City Life is here to help you find tons of great activities to keep kids (and parents) entertained over the holidays.

To help you keep an eye on your summer budget, we’ve assigned all activities with a rating:

FREE = no charge for children or adults // £ = £6 or less // ££ = £20 or less

Hereford Dino Trail

FREE | Suitable for ages 3-12

Hunt down great dinosaur facts on this FREE interactive trail! Using the LoyalFree app, find the posters in local shop windows and scan the QR codes to reveal the facts – once you’ve scanned the codes at all locations, head to Hereford Tourist Information Centre to claim your prize!

The trail runs until 4th September 2022.

Climb the Cathedral Tower

£ | Suitable for ages 8+

An adventurous climb, stunning views and fascinating history is what’s on offer with a Tower Tour at Hereford Cathedral. You’ll visit the Lantern Gallery and Ringing Chamber, and up 218 steps you will find some of the finest views of the city and beyond. Certificates are issued to explorers who manage the climb to the top.

The cathedral ask that children be accompanied by an adult and advise that the climb is only suitable for children aged 8 or over.


Space-themed Mini Golf

£ | Suitable for ages 4+

When the weather’s not on side, take the family for an indoor adventure at Matrix. This fantastic entertainment venue’s mini-golf course has a fun glow-in-the-dark space theme and we’re positive this will be a huge hit for all the family.

Matrix also have other great activities including Laser Tag (AGES) and Axe Throwing (AGE).


Needle Felt Fun

££ | Suitable for ages 7-12

Needle felting courses are a great way for children to get creative and learn a new craft. Taught in the Make-it Happen studio, there are a variety of courses with different fun designs to make, from bee hives to monsters.

Not into needle felting? Make-it Happen have plenty of other workshops to try too!


Book-lovers Paradise

£-££ | Suitable for all ages

Any bookworm will be guaranteed to adore this store and we would be surprised if even the most reluctant reader didn’t find a great book at The Children’s Bookshelf. They are specialists in children’s books and sell a whole host of both fiction and non-fiction books with an array of genres, themes and topics to suit any ages.

Little Lofties Films

££ | Suitable for ages 4+

Who fancies a movie? On Wednesdays, join The Loft Cinema for their Little Lofties showings - new and well-loved family-friendly films, with ratings from U to PG, that make perfect daytime viewing. At The Loft you book by the sofa and have delicious food options to enjoy too, including pizza, nachos and burgers.   


Hereford History at Black & White House Museum

£ | suitable for ages 4+

In the heart of Hereford is the Black & White House. Also known as the Old House, this timber-framed Jacobean building has a fascinating history. There are hands-on activities for children to enjoy, including puzzles and replica clothing, plus lots of fascinating features to learn about.

Children under 16 go free but must be accompanied by a paying adult (adult tickets £3.50)

I-Spy in Hereford

FREE | Suitable for ages 4+

When the weather’s warm, there’s nothing better than taking in the sunshine on a beautiful walk. With its green spaces, beautiful architecture and local history, walking around our city is a must for visitors. Kids can keep busy by searching for items on our i-spy sheet as you stroll. 

This walk takes approximately 25 minutes but there are plenty of benches and stopping points.
