Big Fancy Dress Costume Swap
Local bookstore, The Children's Bookshelf, have organised an innovative costume swap event to help parents save money and do their bit for the environment! This event is lots of fun and a great way to recycle preloved fancy dress outfits.
World Book Day comes just once a year and it’s great fun to get involved, but buying new costumes can be costly for parents especially in the face of the cost of living crisis. Most costumes will only be worn once (maybe twice if there’s a younger sibling willing to wear it again another year!) so The Children's Bookshelf want to change that!
So here’s how “THE BIG FANCY DRESS COSTUME EVENT” works!
- Drop off your clean, gently-used costumes at “The Children’s Bookshelf” on Gomond Street, Hereford. They are open from Tuesday the 17th of January through to Saturday the 7th of February.
- Anyone who donates a child’s fancy dress costume will be offered a “COSTUME TOKEN” which can be redeemed for another child’s costume later on.
- You are then welcome to come and browse the costumes available and redeem your tokens between Saturday the 11th of February and Saturday the 18th of February.
- Any costumes left over after Saturday the 18th of February will be kept at the shop up until the 28th of February, anyone is welcome to come and grab a costume between these dates (no token required).
If you already have a costume sorted but would still like to donate then all costume donations will be gratefully received. All donated costumes must be clean, in good condition and suitable for ages 0-12 years. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that a suitable costume will be available for every child.
World Book Day is on Thursday 2nd March 2023.
