The Cosy Club
Hereford Cosy Club may well be one of our most fabulous building to date; parts of the property date back to 1621.
The original wood panelling and massive fireplaces really lend Hereford Cosy Club a sense of manorial grandeur. We particularly love the inscription over the inglenook fireplace stating ‘When ye sytle by yr fyre to keepe yrselfes warme, take heede leaste yr tongues doe yr nayboure noe harme’.
We certainly hope our guests would need no such instruction, and will conduct themselves in a suitably genteel manner.
There are other features worthy of note: the rather racy gargoyle gave rise to a rumour that at one point the property may have been home to ladies of ‘negotiable affection’!
All we know for certain, is that most recently it served as a private members’ club for local farmers. We do hope that in its latest incarnation as a Cosy Club, the locals of Hereford will continue to use the building as a refuge from their daily toil.
Inside the building we can seat about 170 guests in regal comfort, with space for another 40 outside on our surprisingly light and modern-feeling patio. Whether you wish to dine in comfort in the oak-panelled dining room, or would prefer to watch the world go by with a drink on a summer’s evening, we’re certain you will find the Cosy Club a welcoming and relaxing experience, in a truly remarkable setting.
