Call for Fringe Events at Hereford AppleFest 2023

Last year saw Herefordshire celebrate the apple, one of our most iconic symbols, with Hereford AppleFest. Over the course of 16 days, the County was host to a fantastic array of apple-themed events, including cider and perry tasting, art exhibitions, apple fairs, historic city trails, and much more.

Hereford City Council are delighted to announce that following last year’s success Hereford AppleFest is ripe and ready to return in 2023, and they are now looking for anyone who wants to participate through hosting a fringe event!

What is a fringe event? In short, it can be anything you like, so long as it’s a public event that somehow involves the ‘apple or pear', and takes place during the official Hereford AppleFest dates between 30 September and 15 October.

For example, last year Hereford Cathedral hosted a self-led trail around the City in which people could discover apple-themed history, and they also included apple-themed menu items at the Cathedral Café. Beer in Hand hosted a cider and perry tasting evening, and Leominster held their own Apple Fair which included children’s activities and produce stalls.

A fringe event as part of Hereford AppleFest will be promoted for free on all of Hereford City Council's promotional material, including social media, posters around the City, and any advertisements they publish.

If you’re interested in hosting a fringe event, you can visit Hereford City Council's website to download a fringe event form, or for more information or advice, please email applefest@herefordcitycouncil.gov.uk.

We hope you’ll join in celebrating Herefordshire’s famous connection to the apple!
