DAILY EVENTS
Everyone is welcome to join any of the acts of worship that take place at the cathedral. Services are normally held at the following times:
Monday – Saturday
8 am – Morning Prayer
10.30 am – Eucharist (8.30 am on a Saturday)
5.30 pm – Evening Prayer or Evensong
Sunday
8 am – Holy Communion
10 am – Cathedral Eucharist (this service is also live streamed)
11.30 am – Matins or Morning Prayer
3.30 pm – Evening Prayer or Evensong
EXHIBITIONS
Laden with Fruit
Monday 9 October – Saturday 30 December 2023
Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm
Laden with Fruit showcases literal and symbolic fruits in the cathedral’s collections using items including the Victorian Herefordshire Pomona and 15th century cyder Bible. The exhibition also features new artwork by Jeanette McCulloch and the Ledbury-based BookArt Club inspired by botanical illustrations in the Cathedral’s collections.
This exhibition is on display in the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Exhibition - normal admission charges apply
EVENTS
From Wednesday 1 November, tickets for Festival of Lessons & Carols, Christingle Nativity Service and Christmas Oratorio will be available. Please visit the cathedral website nearer the time for more details.
Toddler Group
Mondays in term time, 9.30am
Calling all toddlers and their grown ups - join us to play and pray in Hereford Cathedral. Listen to a Bible story, take part in a craft activity and have fun in our weekly drop-in. Suitable for toddlers between the ages of 1-3 years.
Toddler Group is free to attend but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Messy Church
Thursday 2 November, 12 noon – 3pm
Join the Hereford Cathedral team for a day of crafting activities suitable for the whole family. Messy Church is church for families and all. It is Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. We will have craft activities, food and fun - all centred around the teaching of the Bible.

Remembrance Garden for Royal British Legion

The garden will be located in the Lady Arbour Garden and open to visit during normal cathedral opening hours
Lego Club
Wednesday 8 November, 3.30pm – 4.30pm
Test your skills at creating crazy constructions and super structures with Lego in the inspiring surroundings of Hereford Cathedral. Enjoy this freestyle Lego session in the cathedral nave with thousands of bricks and hundreds of mini figures, learn building techniques and make new friends. Suitable for anyone aged 8 – 14.

Advent Course with the Chancellor
Saturdays from 11 November, 11 am (excl. 25 November)
Join us this Advent for a course exploring that most beautiful of prayers, given by Christ himself: the Lord’s Prayer. To book your space, please email the Chancellor on james.pacey@

Everyone is welcome to join us for a short concert of beautiful music played on the Father Willis organ. Afternoon Music takes place on selected Saturdays during the year.
Evening Hour

Bereavement Café
Wednesday 15 November, 2.30pm – 4pm
Everyone is welcome to join us for an informal and friendly gathering for those who have been bereaved, recently or long ago. Join us in College Hall on the third Wednesday of the month from 2.30 - 4pm for coffee, cake and conversation. Run by volunteers, this is a welcoming environment to share experiences and support.

Gospel of St John lecture series
Thursday 2, 9, 16 & 23 November, 10.30 - 12 noon
The Revd Canon Dr Maureen Palmer presents a series of lectures on the Gospel of John in the Old Chapel. Each lecture will end with a fifteen-minute meditation. Attendees are asked to bring a Bible with them, if possible, the NRSV translation. Spaces for these lectures are limited so please book your space by calling 01432 374 225.
Hereford Choral Society: Bach - Mass in B minor
Saturday 18 November, 7.30pm
Bach’s iconic Mass in B minor has such a status in the choral canon that it is often simply referred to simply as ‘The B minor Mass’ without any need to mention the composer at all. It is a glittering compilation of the composer’s ‘greatest hits’, completed towards the end of his life, including several skilful revisions of music from his earlier works. Safe & Supported – a safeguarding event at Hereford Cathedral for the wider community
Sunday 19 – Tuesday 21 November
To mark Safeguarding Sunday on Sunday 19 November, the Safeguarding Team at Hereford Cathedral has organised three days of awareness activities in the cathedral to help the community feel safe and supported. Everyone welcome, for full details visit the cathedral website.
G4 Christmas
Wednesday 22 November, 7.30pm
Join Jonathan, Lewis, Mike and Duncan as they recall the musical experiences of their childhoods. Expect to hear timeless classics such as When A Child is Born, Silent Night and All I Want For Christmas, as well as delightful medleys to evoke the Christmas spirit. Elgar and Enigma Lecture
Thursday 23 November, 7pm
What is the Enigma of Elgar’s Enigma Variations? Peter Dyke has transcribed the orchestral work for the organ and believes that much can be learned about Elgar’s personality through the fourteen musical portraits of his friends and family contained within the variations. Tickets cost £10 and are available to purchase from the cathedral website or by calling 01432 374 225
Magna Carta - One Weekend Only!
Friday 24 & Saturday 25 November, 10am – 5pm
We will be displaying our copy of the 1217 Magna Carta and the only known surviving copy of the 1215 King’s Writ in the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library Exhibition on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 November. This will be the only opportunity to see the originals of these incredibly important documents in 2023. Normal admission prices will apply during this weekend.
Magna Carta Evening
Friday 24 November, 5pm
We will be hosting a special ticketed evening event for visitors to discover the Magna Carta in greater detail. Join us from 5pm for exclusive access to the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Exhibition where you can view the Magna Carta at your own leisure. The evening will also include a brief talk on this incredible document and the impact it has had on legal history.
Tickets for this event cost £12 to include a glass of wine. There is limited capacity for this event - please purchase your tickets via the cathedral website
