Things to do in Hereford this Summer

Medieval Hereford Festival

15th - 16th August

FREE|Suitable for 4 +

Medieval Hereford Festival 2026 is taking place from Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August 2026. It also coincides with the 1,350th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Hereford.

Keep an eye out for trails and activities within the festival.

Climb the Cathedral Tower

£ | Suitable for ages 8+

An adventurous climb, stunning views and fascinating history is what’s on offer with a Tower Tour at Hereford Cathedral. You’ll visit the Lantern Gallery and Ringing Chamber, and up 218 steps you will find some of the finest views of the city and beyond. Certificates are issued to explorers who manage the climb to the top.

The cathedral ask that children be accompanied by an adult and advise that the climb is only suitable for children aged 8 or over.

Space-themed Mini Golf

£ | Suitable for ages 4+

When the weather’s not on side, take the family for an indoor adventure at Matrix. This fantastic entertainment venue’s mini-golf course has a fun glow-in-the-dark space theme and we’re positive this will be a huge hit for all the family.

Matrix also have other great activities including Laser Tag (AGES) and Axe Throwing (AGE).

Children's Craft Workshops

A perfect indoor activity for crafty kids! Join Make-it Happen in their studio for one of their many creative workshops, including Needle Felting, macrame and tie-dye.

Any bookworm will be guaranteed to adore this store and we would be surprised if even the most reluctant reader didn’t find a great book at The Children’s Bookshelf. They are specialists in children’s books and sell a whole host of both fiction and non-fiction books with an array of genres, themes and topics to suit any ages.

Hereford History at The Old House Museum

£ | suitable for ages 4+

Also known as the Old House, this timber-framed Jacobean building has a fascinating history. There are hands-on activities for children to enjoy, including puzzles and replica clothing, plus lots of fascinating features to learn about.

Children under 16 go free but must be accompanied by a paying adult (adult tickets £3.50)
