Half Term in Hereford

Looking for some inspiration to make the most of this half term? Here’s some suggestions from the Hereford City Life team!

Fun for all the family

Book yourself in for an afternoon of excitement at Matrix Hereford! With activities for the whole family to enjoy (groups of 6 maximum), from the arcade to Mini Golf to Laser Tag, you’re guaranteed to have lots of fun!

If the sun is shining, make the most of our gorgeous city by exploring with the I-Spy trail! The trail takes you on an easy but picturesque walk around Hereford, simply download the free trail map and see what you and your little ones can spot around the city centre - find it here.

On 1st June, families will also have the opportunity to meet Optimus Prime, courtesy of The Entertainer! Head to High Town for this meet-and-greet opportunity and have your photo taken with the leader of the Auto Bots himself.

Retail Therapy

Half term is the perfect opportunity to do some shopping and tick off any items on your to-do list.

Enjoy browsing the city's wonderful independent and big-name stores - maybe you'll find new books at The Children's Bookshelf or head to Clarks to pick up new school shoes for the child who won’t stop growing. Don't forget - Clarks offer a fittings appointment service, so you can book your slot online and turn up to take the hassle out of shoe shopping!

Half term is also a great time to pick up cards and gifts ready for Father’s Day on Sunday 18th June. Stop by Home & Country to browse their range of gilets, hats and boots, or head to Fox & Mabel for foodie treats and accessories Dads will love.

 Dine-out destinations

With so many great restaurants to choose from in Hereford, forego the washing up and head out to eat instead this half term!

For lunch (or some tasty treats), explore some of Hereford's great cafes and coffee shops, such as Eden House of Coffee in St Peter's Street, Polly's No.10 on picturesque Church Street or JJ's Diner & Bar on Bridge Street.

For great family-friendly dinner options, head to the Old Market and choose from the huge variety of big name and independent restaurants on offer. From an all you can eat buffet at Amazing Asia, to a brilliant burger at The Beefy Boys or pizza at the newly renovated Zizzi's, there's loads of choice.

Celebrate Hereford's history

There’s lots of fun facts to discover about the history of Hereford! Our half term recommendations would be:

Black & White House Museum - step back in time and learn more about the story of our city in this Jacobean former house in the heart of the city. Children can visit for free and adult entry costs just £3.50!

Waterworks Museum - learn more about Heritage engineering at its best! Children will enjoy using the hands on exhibits, including in the unique Heritage Water Park. The museum is also hosting two Blacksmithing days on 27-28 May 2023!
