The Courtyard are proud to be staging two in house productions as part of its summer programme.

To celebrate reopening after a year of being closed, The Courtyard are producing two in-house shows.

Hopeless Romantics (Tuesday20–Saturday 24 July) is a comedy romance, following the chaos that ensues after ‘non-elective celibate’ Alan pays Zoe, a girl from work, to pose as his girlfriend for the night.

Hopeless Romantics is written by Nick Lane (The Goal) and Fiona Wass (Murder at Berrington). Nick will also be directing the show and has given the script a re-write to tailor it to a Herefordshire audience. Nick started his career as an actor until a car accident damaged his back and brought his acting career to a premature end in his mid-twenties. Since then, Nick has established himself as a writer and has written The Goal and several children’s Christmas shows for The Courtyard.

Marry Me A Little (Tuesday 3–Saturday 7 August) is a bittersweet musical revue that features songs by Stephen Sondheim, the undisputed master of the contemporary Broadway musical.

Theatre practitioner Jason Marc-Williams will be directing Marry Me A Little and is also co-producing both shows. Originally from Swansea, Jason trained at Guilford School of Acting and has since worked across the globe as an actor and director on musicals, plays and original works. He currently works as Head of Acting at Emil Dale Academy, a drama school specialising in Musical Theatre in Hertfordshire.Jason is no stranger to The Courtyard, having performed in three Courtyard pantomimes, twice as the dame, making his debut in 2013.

To say thank you to the NHS staff and key workers who have worked tirelessly through the covid-19 pandemic, The Courtyard will be giving away 10 pairs of free tickets to each production. Audiences can keep an eye on The Courtyard’s social media channels where more information about the competition will be published soon. Concessionary rates will also be given to all blue light card holders.

Hopeless Romantics will be in The Courtyard’s Main House from Tuesday 20–Saturday 24 July and Marry Me A Little will be in The Courtyard’s Main House from Tuesday 3–Saturday 7 August. To book tickets, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk.
